For loved ones

Affected by someone else’s gambling? You don’t have to carry this alone.

If you are living with someone else’s gambling, you may know the sleepless nights, the constant checking and the feeling of walking on eggshells while questioning everything, including your own judgement.

You might be checking bank accounts, trying to work out what is true, waiting for the next discovery, worrying about money or trying to hold family life together while never quite knowing what is coming next.

And when so much of your attention has been pulled towards the gambling, it can become difficult to notice how much of yourself has been pushed aside in the process.

We understand that because we have lived it ourselves. We built this work because we could not find the kind of support we needed when we were in the middle of it.

Watch first

Sick of the chaos gambling is causing you and your family? We were too.

Watch this short video where we show you what you can do to Rebuild, Rise and Reclaim your life. Fully funded places on Rebuild & Rise: Reclaim Your Life are available to eligible women across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If you live outside the UK, we also offer an international version of the programme. Book a call for further details.

What we hear most

Living with a partner’s gambling? If any of these feel familiar, you’re in the right place.

  • "I'm exhausted from monitoring everything."
  • "I've lost trust in my own judgement."
  • "I don't know who I am outside of this."
  • "I keep waiting for the next discovery."
  • "I'm carrying fear, pain and emotional exhaustion all at once."
  • "I don't recognise my life anymore."

When you have spent so long watching, checking, anticipating and responding to someone else’s gambling, your own needs can gradually disappear from view.

Our work helps bring the focus back to you.

Participant experience

What can begin to change when the focus comes back to you?

Women have arrived at Rebuild & Rise carrying months or years of worry, responsibility, financial uncertainty and emotional exhaustion.

Over the course of the programme, we have seen the language begin to change.

Women have described feeling calmer, sleeping better, understanding their emotional responses differently and feeling more able to manage situations that once felt overwhelming.

We have heard greater self-compassion, clearer recognition of what is and is not within their control, and women beginning to make space for themselves again.

For some, progress has appeared in very ordinary but significant moments: taking time away, responding differently during a difficult week, feeling less consumed by somebody else’s choices, or recognising their own needs without immediately feeling responsible for everyone else.

Rebuild & Rise does not depend on somebody else changing first.

It is about helping you feel steadier, understand what you have been carrying and begin reclaiming your own choices, confidence, identity and life.

In her own words
When I first saw the post about accessing the programme on the Gamily Facebook page, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to take that step. I’m now at week 8, and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. When I completed the application, I was at breaking point. I had some concerns about joining an online group, but Lorraine and Claire have created such a safe, supportive environment where everyone feels heard, valued, and respected. I would recommend this support to anyone affected by gambling-related harm. The other women in the group are incredibly brave and inspiring, and their support has made such a difference. I no longer feel so alone, and I’m in a much better place than I was before starting the programme. I’m so grateful I took that first step.

Lived experience

We are therapists, and we have been where you are.

We built this work because we couldn't find what we needed when we were in the gambling storm ourselves. We know what it feels like to be the one watching it happen, the one trying to hold everything together, and the one that nobody around you knows how to help. That experience shaped everything we do.
